Join us to celebrate the winter launch of Studies in Photography 2019 Edition II; the bi-annual journal of the Scottish Society for the History of Photography (SSHoP).

Enjoy an evening of live music, drinks and 15% off* purchases made in the gallery shop on the night, including Studies in Photography and publications by key photographers from the Society.

There will a talk in the Great Hall by David Williams on the photographer Robert Frank as featured in this journal.

This latest edition of Studies in Photography 2019 Edition II concludes the exploration into the world of collecting; with organisations such as the National Trust for Scotland offering some fascinating insights into their collections and the process of making them accessible to the public.

The journal interview presents the work of book artist Helen Douglas; a major article on the 19th century pioneer Charles Piazzi Smyth by Sara Stevenson marks his 200th anniversary; we look back on 30 years of Street Level Photoworks; we feature four ‘New Contemporaries’; Ewan Morrison contributes to ‘Writer’s Choice’, and David Williams pays tribute to the late, great Robert Frank.

Current SSHoP members can attend the launch for free; on arrival please check in with a member of our team.
