who will be remembered here
Eden Court, Inverness
2.-24.2.2025
'who will be remembered here’ invited four queer writers and performers to respond to Historic Environment Scotland properties in care. Four shorts were filmed and performed on location in four different languages - Scots, Gaelic, English and BSL - their stories bringing to life experiences that have been rendered invisible by the suppression of marginalised people throughout history. This photography exhibition features portraits of the artists, details of the historic sites and behind-the-scenes documentation from the film sets by project stills photographer Tiu Makkonen.
'who will be remembered here' was conceived of and led by Lewis Hetherington (he/him) and CJ Mahony (they/them), with the intention to centre the untold stories of people who have been scarcely mentioned in the archives of Scotland’s history. The project aspires to become an archive for the future, creating space for queer bodies and the intersection of their identities, experience, and language to repopulate Scotland’s collective cultural memory. The performers featured in the project are Harry Josephine Giles, Robert Softley-Gale, Robbie MacLeòid and Bea Webster-Mockett. All films were made in collaboration with Forest of Black.
The premiere of the short films will be held at Eden Court, Inverness on Sunday 23rd February 2025. Tickets available here: https://eden-court.co.uk/event/who-will-be-remembered-here
