Singer songwriter Karine Polwart chairs an afternoon discussion, with poetic and musical responses to Scotland's Covenanter past, as explored in The Killing Time, Iain Stewart's collection of dark, lyrical photographic images and writings on the Galloway landscape. Includes new writing from James Robertson and an exclusive short musical performance from Karine Polwart.
The Killing Time is Iain's personal pilgrimage to Galloway revisiting places of ancestral significance around the Solway Firth, where religious conflict in the 17th century left its mark. '[Stewart’s] work evokes a haunting beauty and the inseparable link between human history and nature...’ (The Guardian, September 15th, 2025). The Killing Time is showing at Stranraer Museum (26th September - 28th November 2026) to coincide with this event.
This event is a part of a Season of Photography 2026 - a celebration of photography in Scotland running from 1 September – 20 December 2026
