Roger Palmer will present an illustrated artist’s talk on his 2019 solo exhibition, Refugio – after Selkirk after Crusoe (organised by Fife Contemporary at Kirkcaldy Galleries). The talk will feature photographs made both in the Lower Largo area and on Isla Robinson Crusoe, as well as a series of large-scale temporary works based on illustrations from an early 20th Century children’s book, Robinson. Palmer will also offer some insight into his experiences while visiting Isla Robinson Crusoe. Roger Palmer is an artist based in Glasgow. He taught at The Glasgow School of Art (1985-2004) and was Chair of Fine Art at the University of Leeds (2005-12). His work has been widely exhibited and published since the 1970s in the UK, several European Union countries and also in Russia, Iceland, North America, Uganda, South Africa and New Zealand. SPOOR, an artist’s book of a recent project made in South Africa, is published by GOST, London, in July 2019. A comprehensive archive of past projects is available at www.rogerpalmer.info.
