Stories 2022 – Writing With Colour – A Tale of Two Countries with Morag Paterson
As part of the Stories 2022 programme, Stirling Photography Festival invited Morag Patterson to discuss her work “rewilding and creating chromatograms using soil and foliage collected from the southern uplands of Scotland and the Ligurian hinterland in Italy.”
Morag says about her practice
“A sense of belonging underpins my work, which varies from wildly abstract to more literal representations of the natural world. Deep immersion is part of my process. I often spend weeks on end intensely observing elements of landscape, delving into possibilities, experimenting, observing the ever-shifting interplay of light with matter. I hope that my imagery may offer avenues for reconnecting with our place in the natural world and deepening existing bonds.”
