The Worlds Edge | Cartography panel discussion

Thomas Joshua Cooper’s 'The Worlds Edge' exhibition at Scottish National Portrait Gallery features photographs of his expeditions to uncharted land masses and previously unknown islands and archipelagos.

Join world-renowned Cartographer Mary Spence MBE and author/singer-songwriter Malachy Tallack for this special event to explore the real and imaginary in mapmaking and journeying.

Spence is one of the UK's leading cartographers and enjoys an international reputation for map making excellence, working across all platforms from digital data to field research. Tallack’s 2016 publication The Un-Discovered Islands documents islands once believed to be real but no longer on the map. Phantoms and fakes, myths and mysteries, Tallack’s book explored an archipelago of ex-isles and forgotten lands.
