The Scottish Portrait Awards returns to the Scottish Arts Club with 60 artists and works selected for the 2020 exhibitions and shortlisted for prizes.

The Scottish Portrait Awards are open to anyone who is over 16 who was born in Scotland, is resident in Scotland or studying in Scotland. The Scottish Portrait Award for Fine Art of £5,000 will be awarded for stunning portraits in any 2D or 3D medium. The Richard Coward Scottish Portrait Award in Photography of £3,000, will be awarded to the most striking black and white photographic portrait.
The winners of these awards will be presented with one year free membership of the Scottish Arts Club, Edinburgh. The works of up to 60 finalists will also included in the Scottish Portrait Awards exhibition and catalogue. Long listed works will be featured in an online exhibition running from December to January. Judges for the SPA in Fine Art include artist and playwright John Byrne; Imogen Gibbon, Roger Billcliffe, Helen Wilson and Gordon Mitchell who is also the SPA Director. Judges for the Richard Coward SPA in Photography include Ben Harman, Rachel Nordstrom, Simon Murphy and Siobhán Coward.

The Club has current Covid safety restrictions in place. All visitors must prebook their slot. Visits are currently restricted to 6 people per 30minute slot. Masks must be worn inside and all visitors have to sign in to Track & Trace. The rooms are ventilated, and hand sanitiser is freely available.
