SaltSpace cooperative are delighted to host The Rebel Dykes Community Oral History Workshop led by the film's producer Siobhan Fahey, which exists to create intergenerational debate and community.

7.15PM REBEL DYKES, UK, (2021) 92 mins, Dir Harri Shanahan and Siân A. Williams

Following the workshop and included in the ticket price, is the feature length documentary which tells the story of the Rebel Dykes. It is a raucous story of a community of women in 1980s post-punk London who met doing art, music, politics and sex, and how they went on to change their world by becoming artists, performers, musicians and activists.

Rebel Dykes follows a tight-knit group of friends who met at Greenham Common peace camp and became artists, performers, musicians and activists in London. A hot, heady, punky, sexy mash-up of animation, previously unseen rare archive footage and new interviews tells the story of a radical scene: squatters, BDSM nightclubs, anti-Thatcher rallies, protests demanding action around AIDS and the fierce ties of chosen families.
