David Buchanan is an Edinburgh based mountaineer and photographer. His work explores the interaction of humanity with landscape, and the idea of wild. A quarry is a frontier between the natural and the industrial. One of the oldest activities, quarries are ubiquitous, colourful - a violent en-wilding sometimes creating

an unintentional sublime. Quarries may be re-colonised by nature, some are deliberately preserved as part of our heritage - re-purposed for tourism and leisure.
