Michael Carroll is a freelance photographer, founder and current President of the Romanian Children's Relief Foundation (RCR), an American charity operating in Romania as Fundația Inocenți, the Foundation of the Innocents.
In January 1990, he was one of the first photographers to travel to Romania after the fall of the communist regime. Mike was in Romania to investigate a reported paediatric AIDS epidemic and his experience at this time led directly to the formation of the Romanian Children's Relief Organization.
In addition to serving an at-risk population of over 3,000 children and families in Cluj, Bucharest and Bistrita, the foundation is now providing crisis and trauma support for more than 800 Ukrainian refugees in multiple locations in Romania.
In this talk, Mike will share the work currently being done supporting and settling Ukranian women and children through the charity in Romania.
