‘mine’ - Jane Brettle - visual artist and Robin Mason - musician
An image/text and sound work relating to place, time and land.
'mine’ is a two-screen work progressed over several years in relation to two mining locations: a coal mining area of Lothian and a tin mining area of Cornwall. The work views these once ravaged but currently compelling post-industrial sites with reference to their history and their future. Developed in collaboration, the visual elements of the work are linked by a single soundtrack that unites the landscapes; considering the way in which sound/music - in relation to image/ text - affect meaning.
