Creating and looking at photographs of the natural world can provide us with moments of healing immersion. For artists, this often combines experimental, physical and psychological processes. Susan Derges, Andy Goldsworthy, Harry Cory Wright and Alexander Lindsay all create photographs using landscape and natural forms to locate this uplifting feeling, but each of them uses different technical and visual approaches.
Martin Barnes is Senior Curator of Photography at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) London, which he joined in 1995. Barnes has also curated multiple UK and international touring exhibitions and is the author of numerous photography publications.
The V&A's national photography collection was established in 1852 and is widely respected as one of the largest and most important photographic collections in the world.
