“LOVE STORIES”
Lydia Davies and Edward Gwyn Jones
Glasgow Project Room
Preview: Thursday 11 January, 6–8pm
Open: 12–18 January, daily 11–5pm
“LOVE STORIES” is a duo exhibition by Lydia Davies and Edward Gwyn Jones centring two moving image works, accompanied by paintings and photographic prints.
Through an erotic phone call and a wayward narrator, both film works employ absurd and scattered exchanges between character duos. Using performance and outmoded technologies, these films visually tease the viewer by withholding and revealing the mechanisms of each set. Within these film-worlds, power dynamics are revealed and contested through erotics, betrayal, grief and lament.
“LOVE STORIES” exploits the interpersonal dynamics and dyadic relations presented in these two works, placing them in conversation through custom seating made in collaboration with Glasgow-based artist and maker, Anna Vlassova.
