The new community darkroom - The Inverness Darkroom  - opens for business on the 31st Jan 2019 with an open launch night - all welcome!

Developed as part of the WASPS Inverness Creative Academy, the darkroom has been generously supported by donations from a wide range of Organisations and People - Darkroom and camera equipment has been kindly donated by Talk See Photography,  The Old Printing Works, Ffordes, Iain Roy, Paul Tomkins, Bob Moore, Sandy Sharp as well as a number of other individuals. Sponsorship has been received from AG Photographic who, although based in Birmingham, have Highland connections.     Inverness College UHI joinery and electrical departments and their 2018-19 students have generously donated their time and expertise, providing the cabinets and enlarger booths as well as setting up the working space.

The Darkroom's key mission is to provide a working and teaching space for independent photographers and to foster analogue photography in the Highlands - connecting existing networks and establishing new ones.

We have 8 high spec enlargers handling the full range of negative sizes from 35mm to 5x4 (working out how to squeeze a 10x8 in when we find one..) which which will be bookable by members.

We plan to run introductory and advanced courses throughout the year and also offer a meeting place for photographers visiting the area.   As part of WASPS Creative Academy the darkroom will be available 24/7 to all members.

Full membership details are on our website.
