Impossible Colonies

Kotryna Ula Kiliulyte is a Lithuanian artist based in Glasgow, Scotland. She works with photography, moving image, archive and sound. Impossible Colonies takes as its starting point Lithuanian geographer and diplomat Kazys Pakstas 1920s proposal that the whole nation of Lithuania be moved to a safe place in case of geopolitical tensions.  The work on show combines photography, video, printmaking and sculptural objects, It explores alternative scenarios through the future seen in the past.
