Sean Purser’s, ‘Heids’, is an ongoing series of spontaneous portraits generally taken at folk and traditional music events and gatherings in Glasgow, especially Celtic Connections. These have increasingly become a part of the Festival, ultimately leading to an exhibition that was on display during the 25th Anniversary Festival in 2018. Those exhibited here were all taken at last year’s Festival.

Sean has been involved with Celtic Connections since the first Festival in 1994. He worked as a radio and television producer for BBC Scotland, and for many years produced Archie Fisher’s Travelling Folk, Mary Ann Kennedy’s Global Gathering, as well as Iain Anderson’s Fine Tunes. He also produced a number of television programmes from the Festival for BBC4, BBC Choice and BBC Online. After leaving the BBC in 2012, Sean took up photography, embracing the opportunity to continue his involvement in Scotland’s vibrant traditional music scene.

The work is on display in the Island Bar within the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
