We are delighted to be partnering with Street Level Photoworks and the Macrobert Arts Centre to bring Kim Simpson's exhibition 'Girls and their Mothers' to Stirling during the Festival. Kim will be in conversation with Julie Ellen, Macrobert Artistic Director as part of their Autumn Conversation on the 22nd August. Kim's exhibition will run from 22nd August until 19th September, 2019 in the Arthouse at Macrobert.
Malcolm Dickson of Street Level Photoworks describes Kim's exhibition " ‘Girls and their Mothers’ looks at the complex identify of multiracial individuals, a visually underrepresented group in Scotland. Instead of questioning their ancestry or scrutinizing their appearance, Kim chose to photograph girls and women of mixed heritage and their mothers with an intent on questioning social perception. The images display their relationships, linking these girls and their mothers together while at the same time respecting their disparity."
