Duntelchaig

The southern shores of Loch Duntelchaig, in the Monadhliaths near Inverness, are bounded by surprisingly high cliffs. Over millennia, rock fall has created steep boulder strewn slopes and although the cliffs are the preserve of rock climbers, the landscape below is a complex weave of large boulders, bracken, moss, birch and rowan, accessible to the walker. In the shadow of the cliffs, little light penetrates directly and there is a delicate sense of intimacy in the subdued light in the quiet places which can be found nestling amongst the stones.

This exhibition explores the landscape that lies only a few metres from the shoreline path and celebrates its textures and tones, in black and white.
