Tonic Arts – NHS Lothian Charity, in partnership with Studies in Photography, are delighted to bring this thought-provoking exhibition to the hospital community. Curated from Studies in Photography’s Leaves publications, the participating photographers whose work has been widely shown to high acclaim have kindly supported this exhibition.

During the peculiar years of 2020/2021 Studies in Photography, the publishing arm of the Scottish Society for the History of Photography, produced Leaves – two high-quality publications featuring photography, creative text and short essays celebrating the importance of trees, and the life-affirming qualities of urban green space. Both publications were co-edited by Sara Stevenson, former Chief Curator of Photography at the National Galleries of Scotland and Alex Hamilton, Chair of the Scottish Society of the History of Photography.
