THE WINDOW PORTRAIT

A lockdown special from our series of informal talks, interviews and dialogue with linked to Portobello Photography School.
Join us for a blether with members of my wider photography community Carole Evans, Ciara Leeming and Gwen Riley Jones, three eminent photographers who serendipitously made parallel projects during lockdown making window portraits of their neighbours during lockdown 2020, often with their young children in tow. These projects were all showcased during #DistanceConnected, a Portobello Photography School project looking at how photographers were responding to lockdown in 2020. The window portrait is symbolic of this new time in history, the window portrait also includes echoes of Edward Hopper’s paintings and their symbolism of isolation. The window portrait is a sign of our times.
