WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
Join us at Island Darkroom in learning how to create your own Cyanotype Animations from one of the UK's leading Cyanotype artists, Edd Carr.
Cyanotype is a historic photographic process that has been used for over 150 years, invented in 1842 by John Herschel. Since its inception, artists, photographers, and printmakers have taken advantage of its easy application, affordability, and relative sustainability – creating a thriving subculture of cyanotype enthusiasts. The vibrant blue aesthetic is known around the world – popularised by artists including Anna Atkins, Robert Rauschenberg, and Kate Cordsen.
Artist Edd Carr has extensive experience in making cyanotypes – as well as adapting them into an animation process. This workshop will lead participants from start to finish in creating their own cyanotype animations. Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to create a short animated GIF using cyanotypes.
Participants will be creating animations in pairs and/or groups of 3 depending on numbers.
Please email info@islanddarkroom.com with any questions, including any concerns surrrounding accessability, which we will always do our best to accommodate and support.
