Stills is pleased to present the first major survey exhibition of internationally renowned photographer Jillian Edelstein.

Born in South Africa and now based in London, Edelstein has spent her career documenting people, communities and contemporary history with a distinctive combination of empathy, curiosity and psychological insight. Moving between intimate everyday moments and major historical events, her photographs reveal an enduring interest in the ways people inhabit social worlds, form relationships and navigate periods of political and personal change.

Among People offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience the breadth of Edelstein’s practice for the first time. Bringing together previously unseen early photographs from South Africa alongside internationally recognised editorial commissions, portrait series and documentary projects, the exhibition traces the development of one of the most compelling photographic voices of the past four decades.

Among People is curated by Tracy Marshall-Grant and is part of EAF (Edinburgh Art Festival) 2026, the UK’s largest annual festival of visual art.
