Two-Step: Scribbling/Scrabbling
Two-Step is a collaborative project between Glasgow based artists Beth Shapeero (b.1985) and Fraser Taylor (b. 1960), since 2018 they have been painting, drawing and printmaking together.
Both living and working in Glasgow, they were drawn to each another’s work after noticing a distinctly shared aesthetic and process. Since meeting they have produced 100’s of monotypes and drawings as well as several ambitious installations. The collaboration has become an important part of their creative process, and the partnership continues to grow and develop. The artwork celebrates the joy of colour, mark making and an insight into their creative language and friendship.
For this exhibition, inspired by the large scale of the exhibition wall at Platform. Beth and Fraser have reviewed hundreds of their A4 ‘lockdown’ drawings. Drawings that they passed back and fourth to each other during recent times of when they were unable to meet up in person and continue to make to this day.
A selection were shortlisted to be reimagined in scale – with the aim of transforming these small, scruffy drawings into a giant architectural work. Scribbling/Scrabbling is an exhibition that will feature a new large scale piece measuring 18 metres wide by 5 metres high, alongside a selection of smaller multiple artworks that have been curated by Beth and Fraser from their archive, illustrating their process and journey as collaborators.
