Rafa's series of portraits is entitled ‘Home Is’---a collaborative series of conversations with trans people at home.
Their project aims to showcase trans beauty and simplicity, while inherently linking home as a trans space that we create, find or explore. The series also speaks about the importance of the home as a safe haven or, if it’s not, where one finds their sense of home---physically, mentally, spiritually.
About the artist: Rafa/Aph is a multi-faceted visual artist, producer and space holder. Their creative practice is focused on people and their experiences, storytelling through portraits, words and sounds. They lean towards this as a means of working through their own identity while centering and bringing forth the voices and experiences of others.
Photos in the post are part of research between 2021-2023, part of their exploration around domesticity, portraits and queerness.
