Studies in Photography is pleased to announce its first exhibition of the year, Ten Men & Other Stories, by Edinburgh artist Robin Gillanders. The exhibition will feature his autobiographical work Ten Men, a series of head studies using analogue photography techniques and  a self-reflection on the identity of the aging artist. We will also be hosting 30 of his portraits that reflect a photographic career spanning from 1970-2025, with many familiar faces such as William McIlvanney (writer), Dylis Rose (writer), Tam Dalyell (politician) and Louisa Burnett-Hall (painter).

Robin Gillanders is a photographer based in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is a former Reader in Photography at Edinburgh Napier University and was awarded an Honorary Fellowship in 2016. He has several works in the collection of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh, City Art Centre, Edinburgh, the V&A, London and National Portrait Gallery, London. He has published six books including The Photographic Portrait (2004) and Ian Hamilton Finlay: Little Sparta and Collaborations (2024). He has exhibited widely and internationally including the Prada Foundation, Venice, Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh.
