The Scottish Network for Analogue Photographers (SNAP) is an informal, twice-yearly, gathering of folk passionate about analogue photography.

Towards the end of 2025, Tomas Frydrych and Matt Sillars met at an analogue photography exhibition in Kingussie. Both felt that there is a need for a network that brings together analogue photographers for face-to-face meetings which will help build dialogue, fraternity and support, without having to be part of an organisation or society.

They envisage twice-yearly ‘Gatherings', avoiding the conventions of an organised meeting, planning instead, a big room, with lots of tables to lay work out on, and plenty of tea and coffee to facilitate ‘mingling’ and ‘chatting’.  They hope to grow the network organically and avoid extensive use of social media. From personal connections they hope that opportunities will emerge.

Analogue photography is a broad church, and whether you are into cyanotypes from digital negatives, or digital prints from analogue negatives, 35mm or ultra large format, wet collodion or polaroid lifts, it’s the people behind the craft in all its rich variety that the Gathering is about.

It is not necessary to bring along work, but the more there, the merrier.

There is no membership fee as SNAP is not an organisation, or club, or anything like that. Just an informal gathering of the analogue clan. The Gathering is  free to attend.

This first SNAP Gathering is in Association with the Inverness Community Darkroom
