Enter: Scottish Portrait Awards in Photography

Open now to anyone over 16 born, living, studying in Scotland. Top prize £3,000. Touring exhibition for 30 shortlisted photographs. Online exhibition for 75+ longlisted photographs

The Richard Coward SPA in Photography is for portraits in black and white only. This is Scotland’s biggest photography award with £3,000 first prize, £500 second prize and £100 third prize plus the £500 SPA Young Photographer Award which is open to entrants aged over 16 and under 25 years on 1 October 2021.

Judges for the photography award include Ben Harman of Stills Gallery, Rachel Nordstrom, Photographic Collections Manager at the University of St Andrews, award winning photographer Simon Murphy and Siobhán Coward.

Entry fee is £10 per work. All funds raised are used to support the Scottish Portrait Awards. The competition is managed by a team of experienced volunteers supported by the Scottish Arts Trust – registered charity SC044753.

We are looking for striking, imaginative, out-of-the-box, black and white photographs that tell a strong story.
