The fourth of our AGITATE members' pin-ups! This event is for HERO, MAKER and MIXER members only. Membership is on a flexible monthly or annual basis.
If you need a deadline to take your work-in-progress to the next stage, here's a good one!
We will hear from a maximum of six image-makers (first come first served, please book the relevant ticket) who will pin up test prints, drafts, dummies, and development, and deliver a short presentation on their project. Helpful feedback and critique from attending members will then be offered either verbally or via post-it note, and there will be time to ask and answer questions about the project. The AGITATE team will be on hand to facilitate discussion if needed. There will be plenty of opportunity to also approach the presenting artists individually for further conversation during or after the session.
What is 'crit'? //
Crit is short for 'critique'. This is subjective, nobody's opinion is 'authoritative' or 'right' unless it is useful to you, and all feedback offered reflects the individual perspectives of attendees. Crit is offered as constructive feedback, beneficial during project development as a variety of perspectives can help when evaluating whether your message or meaning is being communicated. It can be easy to get 'tunnel vision' when working independently on something for lengthy periods of time and this is a good opportunity to hear from others.
In this way, crit is best suited for project work which is intended for public display, although personal or private projects are welcome if you think input would be useful.
Ticketing //
This is a ticketed event with limited capacity and you must book in order to attend. Tickets are free to all HERO, MAKER and MIXER tiers of membership. Please sign up to the AGITATE Patreon in one of these tiers in order to RSVP. Please note that due to building protocol we need to send names on 1-week in advance - therefore BOOKING CLOSES AT MIDNIGHT ON SUNDAY 14 JUNE.
Practicalities //
We ask that anyone participating in presenting work arrives 20 minutes early in order to install - walls, table space, pins, nails, masking tape, and blu-tack are provided but let us know if you're planning anything different. There is a maximum of 20 minutes prescribed to each project presented, and if we reach capacity we will stick to this as strictly as we can with a timer, to fairly discuss everyone's work. The agenda will be updated with participating presenters as they are confirmed.
Accessibility //
The crit will be seated in our shared studio space at Saltire Court, 20 Castle Terrace. Please arrive at reception between 1:55PM and 2PM where one of the AGITATE team will meet you. The venue is wheelchair accessible and we will be meeting on the second floor, accessible via stairs or lift. There is an accessible toilet and plenty of quiet breakout space if needed. Light refreshments will be provided.
This event is planned during the weekend, in the afternoon. The following Members' Pin-Up (date TBC) will be during the week, in the morning. We will continue to vary the event times to try and ensure that as many schedules as possible are catered for. If for whatever reason you are unable to attend at these times please do get in touch and we will do the best we can to cater to everyone.
