National Galleries of Scotland invited photographer Iain Stewart to select nine works submitted by members of the public for their ‘2020: Stories, Portraits, Visions’ project.
One of them was this photograph by Katie Llewellin, which captures her 92 year old mum and Maria, her carer.
“My mum always asks to see Maria’s smile. Maria says ‘of course’. But only after she is behind a glass door to wave goodbye.”
