MBP Scottish Portrait Awards in Photography

The Scottish Portrait Awards in Photography and Fine Art are open to anyone over 16 years on 1 November 2026 who was born, or is living or studying in Scotland.

The 2026 Scottish Portrait Awards exhibition will be held at the National Galleries of Scotland, Portrait, from November 2026 to March 2027.

First Prize: £5,000

DEADLINE: 15th January 2026

  • MPB Scottish Portrait Award in Photography exhibition will feature 60 works and is open to conceptual and surrealist imagery as well as traditional portraiture created using any photographic process. The aim is to create an exhibition with a powerful and exciting impact, showing diversity as well as strong story-telling through portraiture.   • Scottish Portrait Award in Fine Art exhibition will also feature 60 works including 2D and 3D works in any medium and time-based media. Learn more about the Scottish Portrait Award in Fine Art.

  • Scotland Now! Phone Portrait Award will include 50 photographs presented on a rolling digital display. Entires must be created on a phone by anyone over 16 living in Scotland. The photograph must be taken after 1 January 2025 in Scotland, of someone or a group of people who live in Scotland. Entry to Scotland Now! is free. Learn more about the Scotland Now!
