The four exhibition images have been selected from a larger body of work – Rest awhile, ken? - that was presented over two exhibitions at Street Level Photoworks, Glasgow and Glasgow Project Room.

Within the context of the exhibitions, the images represented a slight pause, a starting point; an exploration of coastal legacies where familiar elements are marveled in, and captured as overlapping, merging and often fragmented panoramas.

Documenting stilted journeys through ambiguous, but familiar landscapes, I sourced material from Scotland’s east, journeying from Stonehaven to Elie in Fife.

(Mis)using plastic cameras to investigate the geographical similarities and the socioeconomic parallels, I set out to capture the effects of the decline of the fishing industry and associated historical and political environments. Deliberately double exposing the film in the camera, manipulating it so that images run into and over each other, the outcomes often produced chance meetings and poetic relationships.
