Miriam Ali is a photographer, visual artist and workshop facilitator based in Glasgow. Her personal work stems from her research practices which focus on South Asian heritage in Scotland, land relations, sense of place and memory. Miriam will speak about her artist practice, her work with gallery and archive collections, and within the community. One example is Tape Letters Scotland, produced in 2024 , it is a photo series commissioned by Modus Arts for the wider Tape Letters Scotland project. Tape Letters is multimedia archive project which aims to record stories of migration and archive cassette tapes used by the South Asian communities in 1960s - 1980s in the UK. There will be time for questions and discussion.
