Street Level Photoworks will be hosting session #4 of the Glasgow Photobook Club on Wednesday the 11th of December 2019, 6:00 - 7:30pm.

We shall be talking with Glasgow-based photographer and filmmaker Izzy Leach about her self-published book “Seven Ages“ (2019) that was part of the recent Open exhibition at Street Level Photoworks. During the remaining thirty minutes, we'll have a round table discussion about Izzy's project.

In the play “As You Like It“, Shakespeare surmises that a man's life can be split into seven archetypal ages; “the Infant“, “the Schoolboy“, “the Lover“, “the Soldier“, “the Justice“, “the Pantaloon“ and “Old Age“. Izzy Leach's series contemplates these archetypes and reframes them through large format photography. The images take their cue from Renaissance art and feature entirely female protagonists captured in their homes; shedding an alternative light on the traditionally male roles recorded throughout history. Each subject is connected to each other by their location in rural Dumfries and Galloway on the south-west coast of Scotland.
