Edinburgh Photobook Club #14 will be on Saturday February 22 2019, from 2:30pm-4:30pm in the National Portrait Gallery library (1 Queen St, Edinburgh EH2 1JD).

During the first 45 minutes, Becky Howell from the National Portrait Gallery library will be introducing us to their three collections of photography books: the Riddell Collection, the Eve Arnold Library and their main collection of photography books including books on photographic theory as well as artists’ monographs.

During the remaining 45 minutes, we will be focusing on three books by American photographer Abigail Heyman that are part of the library’s collection: Growing Up Female: A Personal Photo-Journal (1974), Butcher, Baker, Cabinet Maker (1978) and Dreams and Schemes (1987). Heyman’s book Growing Up Female was exhibited during last year’s Rencontres d’Arles. The book collects photographs of Heyman's life, "challenging assumptions about being a woman" and "documents the female experience from a feminist perspective."
