Join us for the in-person launch of Kieran Dodds' new book The Church Forests of Ethiopia.
As one of the fastest expanding economies in the world and the second most populous country in Africa, Ethiopia faces environmental pressures. In Amhara province, an area larger than England and Wales, some 11,000 forests have been mapped surrounding church buildings, protected for centuries as miniature Gardens of Eden. Through a photographic essay of these landscapes and the communities who inhabit them, Kieran Dodds reveals how spiritual ideas and long-held conservation practices have the power to nurture sustainable landscapes in a time of ecological crisis.
Our director Ben Harman will join Kieran in conversation for a short talk and presentation on the project, followed by an opportunity to purchase a signed copy of The Church Forests of Ethiopia.
