Alan Dimmick: In Conversation with Francis McKee

Alan bought his first camera (a Russian Zenith) in 1977, the same year that he converted the toilets in his secondary school annex into a darkroom; he's been taking photographs ever since - somewhere in the region of 90,000!

Join us in the Creative Lab for a special evening with photographer Alan Dimmick in conversation with Francis McKee - Director of CCA.

Alan will be discussing his practice and the creation of his archival project, ADPA, followed by a Q&A.

Spanning over forty four years, Alan Dimmick’s images document his personal life, the Scottish landscape, the changing urban terrain of Glasgow, the vibrant arts scenes of Scotland, and his friends and family. A life spent out and about in his hometown and places dear to him and rarely without a camera. Through this intimate discussion Alan will be reflecting on his practice and considering the subjects he has returned to again and again.

Alongside this conversation will be the opportunity to view some of his negatives and contact sheets, see a digital presentation of the archive, and purchase signed copies of his book Photographs 1977-2017 at a special discounted price. A screening of a short film made by Marissa Keating - Archive Manager for ADPA with support from the Art 360 Foundation will open the evening.
