FORMAT21: Announce All Day Conference

Save the Date: FORMAT21: All Day Conference

Friday 12th March 2021

FORMAT is delighted to be working with the University of Derby to present the FORMAT21 conference.

Following on from the highly ambitious and experimental research festival conference held at the University of Derby’s Markeaton Street site for FORMAT in March 2019, Dr Philip Harris and Gemma Marmalade are thrilled to announce an all-new virtual conference for FORMAT21.

Taking place entirely online on Friday 12th March 2021, this single, all-day event will commence this year’s festival calendar.

Taking the lead from the festival theme, a multitude of contemporary researchers, photographers and artists will meet to present a dynamic schedule of responses to the notion of CONTROL.

This event promises exciting innovations to conventional conferences and enables greater responsiveness to the needs of distance-engaged delegates. With eminent keynote speakers, special guests, individual presentations, ‘in conversation’ dialogues, and interactive panel discussions, the conference will frame an aperture of context for all virtual festival visitors to enjoy.

Professor Keith McLay, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Education at the University of Derby, said: “The University of Derby is pleased once again to be a partner of international photography festival, FORMAT, a must-see event that further enriches the city’s diverse arts and cultural offering.

“FORMAT21 will feature more than 90 projects by artists and collectives and is an opportunity to view outstanding and relevant photography. A focus for the University is the FORMAT21 virtual conference, organised and hosted by the University, which will bring together speakers, including University academics, to explore the theme of the festival.”
